May SPA Newsletter
Next meeting May 10th at 5:30pm. Free Childcare!
Penny Drive Results
Wow! What a fun competition. Congratulations to White for 1st place and Yellow for last place. They will each receive an Eegees drink party. The final totals were as follows: White +141.23, Red +106.48, Purple +39.67, Blue -69.91 and Yellow –125.37. We raised a total of $988, of which $384.43 was in pennies. That’s 38,443 pennies!!!! Great job everyone!
Olympiad & AIMS
Wow! Olympiad sure was fun! The results were 1st place – Blue, 2nd place – Red, 3rd place – White and 4th place - Yellow. Great job everyone! A special thank you goes out to our wonderful 4th grade teachers who organized the event and all the parents and grandparents who helped out. Thank you also to our great AIMS and Terra Nova testing volunteers!!! We received plenty of snacks and had wonderful help packing them up for each testing classroom.
Spirit Week – May 10th – 14th
Come join us for a week of dress down fun. As long as you match the theme each day, there is no cost to dress down! Here are the daily themes:
Monday – Pajama Day
Tuesday – Black & White Day (wear only black and/or white)
Wednesday – Sports Jersey Day (wear gear/jerseys supporting sports teams)
Thursday - Decade Day (wear any clothing related to the 50s-80s)
Friday – Support Non-Profit Day (wear shirts from nonprofit, charity groups)
Volunteer Appreciation – May 13th
In appreciation for everything our parents, grandparents, and other volunteers do around TCDS, both SPA and the administration would like to invite all volunteers to a free breakfast! Teachers, staff & SPA will be providing wonderful goodies starting at 7:30am Thursday, May 13th. Whether you have helped with donations, in the classroom, at home or at an event know that you are appreciated by TCDS. Come join us for a morning of our sincere thanks.
Water Day Volunteers Needed – May 20th
Come help us with an annual TCDS tradition held on the last day of school. Students spend the school day in bathing suits, participating in various water events and playing on inflatables. We need folks to help monitor jumping castles and run student games from 8:30am-2pm. Email spa@tcdcharterschool.com if you can help. We are looking for at least 30 volunteers so folks only have to work half the day.
Camp Adventure Summer Camp
Looking for something fun to do this summer? Check out TCDS’s famous summer camp – Camp Adventure! Registration forms can be found online at http://tucsoncampadventure.com or in the office. Weekly half days and full days are available for students preschool through 8th grade.
Summer Prep
If you are looking to get a jump-start on your student's next school year, catch them up a bit, or simply stay in the school mode while getting a great, educational and fun experience, TCDS Summer Prep is the answer you have been looking for! When: June 7-July 2, 2010, Monday-Friday, 8:00am- 12:00pm. Summer Prep will emphasize MATH, READING, and WRITING with interesting, engaging activities and hands-on projects. For more information, please speak with your child’s teacher or visit the TCDS website.
